Liberty Science Center dramatic renovations

The Liberty Science Center, located at 222 Jersey City Blvd, Jersey City, NJ, is an interactive science museum and learning center. When it opened in 1993, it was the largest planetarium in the Western Hemisphere, and fourth largest in the world.

During planned facility renovations, the project was also expanded to include exterior lighting. Recent improvements & modernization elevated the center to an inspirational beacon. The final results were so dramatic that Designing Lighting magazine showcased the project on their Oct/Nov issue.

To create the luminous and radiant skyline landmark on the exterior, SSL’s ColourLine WET and SSF2109 Flood Lights washed the façade with a controlled, colorful composition. To illuminate interior spaces and create striking visual effects, Solid State Luminaires ColourLine Graze and SSF2106 Flood Lights were utilized.
