Miami County Courthouse

The historic Miami County Courthouse in Troy, Ohio was originally completed in 1885. The architectural design features Corinthian columns and arched windows with outthrust corners at main entrance. A central tower progresses from the center of the building with a clock tower and dome, and a statue of justice is prominently placed at the very top.

The building and surrounding areas have undergone significant, multimillion-dollar interior and exterior renovations, with focus on energy-efficiency. Another concern was poor lighting and deteriorating   conditions in public areas. The project was done in two phases, and today the building is one of the most dramatic examples of courthouse architecture in the Midwest, it has now been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

To enhance the public experience, improve the pedestrian access, increase safety & security, the exterior illumination was carefully planned.  To dramatically illuminate the exterior building  façade and surroundings, Solid State Luminaires  supplied ColourLine Wet RGBW luminaires, as well as Projector models SSF2105, SSF2106 and SSF2109, all custom color matched to the building. These luminaires allow for dramatically different lighting effects, which are changed depending on events and holidays (see variations in the photo deck to the right).
